- Society Membership;
- Abstract Submission;

What information is collected about me by BFS and how?
BFS collect, use and disseminate the personal information that is provided to us only in accordance with the policies outlined in this document. We may keep your information for a reasonable period for these purposes.
We collect the personal data that you may volunteer while using the following services: membership renewal, event registration, submission of abstracts and every time you email us your details.
How is my information stored by BFS?
The information you provide to the British Fertility Society is stored on its DP contractors own internal systems and databases and on a secure remote server. These systems are protected by industry-recognised secure methods and only BFS and DP contractors staff or others acting on our behalf will be authorised to access the information you provide to us.

When you visit the BFS website, BFS sends your computer a small file called a cookie, which we can access when you visit our site in future. BFS collect this information to help our website run smoothly, and to analyse general trends in the way our users interact with the website (such as the most popular content) so that we can ensure the website meets the demands of our users.

What else should I know about my privacy when using other websites?
This privacy notice does not cover any links to other organisations that The DC may add to its website. You are strongly advised to read the privacy notices of these organisations.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
We do not disclose your personal data to other organisations other than as necessary for the purposes for which you have supplied your information. However, for the purpose of data integrity, information may be made available to our DP contractors to ensure consistency of data, for example an update of your mailing address. By providing us with your information you consent to such disclosure.
We may also engage third parties to process information on our behalf subject to appropriate security protections being in place.
We may also disclose personal data in order to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation or if necessary for legal proceedings.
In order for you to attend an Event delivered by a partner organisation, it may be necessary to exchange some contact information with them.
Registration for Events
Information collected through the registration facility is used to customise and personalise pages. It has benefit to the user in that, once logged in, forms that require such information are automatically populated with it, saving the user time and ensuring accuracy.
Your account information and profile are password-protected so that you are the only member who has access to this information. We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone.
Remember to log out from your registered area and close your browser window when you have finished your visit to our site.
Ultimately you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your passwords and/or any account information.

The terms and conditions of membership of your Society require your details to appear in the members’ directory.
However, you may contact the BFS Secretariat if you wish to discuss your concerns.

We will provide you with a readable copy of the personal data which we keep about you, and to which you are entitled under the Data Protection Act 1998 – although we may require proof of your identity before doing so. We may charge you an administration fee of £10 for processing your application.
We allow you to challenge the data that we hold about you and, where appropriate and in-line with the terms and conditions of your Society membership, you may have the data:
