General Guidance Notes for Scientific Prizes

  • Awards are open to BFS members only.
  • The awards listed will be awarded only at each scientific meeting.
  • All awards are open to sponsorship. The BFS Treasurer or BFS Secretariat will advise what arrangements are currently in place. If an award is not currently sponsored then this presents an additional sponsorship opportunity.
  • Sponsors of these awards are acknowledged in the programme thus: Best Young Scientist Abstract Session sponsored by………………(name of the sponsoring company).
  • Candidates for the above mentioned awards must indicate their wish to be considered for one only of the awards on the abstract submission form.
  • All abstracts of authors indicating a wish to be considered for an award will be reviewed by the Abstract Review Committee; normally this is the BFS Meetings Sub-Committee. For joint meetings with the SRF and ACE alternative arrangements may be made.
  • Each award winner will be presented with a BFS Certificate and cheque at the Conference Dinner of the Annual Meeting. Certificates and cheques will be prepared by the BFS Secretariat.
  • Award winners will also be awarded a free registration to the next annual scientific meeting.
  • All abstracts nominated for an award will be presented by the qualifying author unless prior permission has been granted by the BFS Meetings Subcommittee. Failure to do so will disqualify the paper from consideration for an award.
  • Prizes are non-transferable.
